Shakespeare Project Week School Workshops

Creative English Project Week

The Finding The Will Project Week offers primary school children an immersive, interactive experience of Shakespeare. Across the week, pupils work on a specially adapted script (mixing original text and modern English), learn scenes, and rehearse their roles.

On the final day, they perform their own version of a chosen play and every child gets a speaking role. The process builds key skills like listening, imagination, teamwork, confidence, empathy, and resilience. Minimal props and costumes are used, and a tailored teachers’ pack supports the school throughout.

Shakespeare Project Week

  • The Project Week culminates in the children performing their own version of the chosen play. Every child participating is guaranteed a speaking role.
  • As with the two-hour workshop the children require no prior knowledge of the play.
  • On Day One we take the children through the play using our interactive workshop.
  • During the course of the week we have two sessions with each class working on their particular section of the play and then bring it all together on the Friday.
  • We provide a bespoke script with enough speaking parts for every child to have a role.
  • We use a mixture of the original text and modern English.
  • We provide a soundtrack with effects and apposite music.
  • There is scope for making props and costumes where appropriate and for the children to use their instrumental skills.
  • A complimentary Teachers’ Pack is provided.

Themes

  • Macbeth – When shall we three meet again?
  • A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Ill met by moonlight, proud Titania!
  • The Tempest – We are such stuff as dreams are made on.
  • Hamlet – To be or not to be?
  • Twelfth Night – If music be the food of love, play on!

Testimonials

Please never change your workshop and performances! They are perfect and fit in so well with our curriculum. We loved that the focus was on the children and their acting rather than flashy scenery, props and costumes. We all had a fabulous week and cannot wait for the next one!

Head Teacher, Barkston & Syston Primary, Lincs

“We saw some children really excel in performing … the confidence they showed … The sense of achievement afterwards gave them a real boost.”

Year 5 Teacher, St Botolph’s Primary, Peterborough

I enjoyed the workshop because it was really fun and I liked how we got to re-enact the story and it helped us to actually understand the story of Macbeth. It was really good that even if you didn’t have a main part, you could still join in.
