A Day at a School
Beth Guiver visits schools to tell myths, folktales and legends with music and song. An immersive and magical literacy experience.
Beth has been bringing magical, immersive performances of traditional tales to schools, festivals, libraries, heritage sites, museums and special events for over 15 years.
With her magic box of wonder, Beth will conjure and co – create tales from all over the world using drama, props, song and artefacts tailored to your curriculum and each age groups interests.
Immersive, musical storytelling means you get to scratch for grain with little red hen, learn archery with Robin Hood, toast to Knights at the court of King Arthur, run through the enchanted woods of the Baba Yaga witch and sing songs with Irish giants and Welsh mermaids.
This is the perfect way to create community and a sense of togetherness at a school whilst fostering a love of the epic stories that form the bedrock of our literary heritage.
Workshop Activities
Sessions include:
KS1 – Traditional Tales, Fabulous Folk and Fairy tales, Castles and Knights, Robin Hood Stories, Spring Celebration/Summer Solstice/Autumn feast/Winter Wonder tales, Story Train around the World, Celebration Stories (festivals around the world)
KS2 – Fantastical Folktales from Near and Far, Greek Myths, Viking Legends, Trickster Tales, Magical Creatures & Mythical Beasts, Earth Care and Wisdom Tales, Celebration stories, Seasonal Wonder Tales, Into the Unknown – Facing the Fear
The yr 3/4 national curriculum requires ‘increasing familiarity with a wide range of books including fairy stories, myths and legends and retelling some of these orally’ (pg 35 2014) and there cannot be a more enjoyable way of doing this than though a live storytelling performance.
Storytelling can really enrich world culture, history or literacy topics and helps children become familiar with the traditional stories that have informed all our favourite writers!
Please enquire below for more details of each session and if you have a specific topic you would like a session created for.
