Coding with Botley Workshop for Schools

A robotics workshop for younger children

This is a beginner workshop that is designed to teach early years and KS1 students coding with the popular Botley robot. The children will use logic and step coding with Botley to perform a variety of tasks including, turning, performing loops, line following, detecing objects, and making sounds. Format

Reception: 3 sessions x 1 hr 15 mins
(20 participants per session)
Primary: 3 sessions x 1 hr 15 mins
(30 participants per session)

Age Groups

EYFS - Y1, Reception

Step Coding

  • Code Botley to follow directions using a remote programmer.
  • Code Botley to get from A to B using step cards.
Botley Remote Programmer

Line Following

  • Watch Botley follow a line using it's sensors.

Object Detection

  • Code Botley to avoid hitting objects.

Other Coding Activities

  • Use Botley to make sound patterns.
  • Use secret codes to turn Botley in to dinosaur, ghost, police car, and more.
