Signing Up to the British Army: In this interactive session, children experience what it was like to join the British Army during WW1. They visit a mock Recruiting Office, swear an oath of allegiance to the King, and learn the value of discipline. Through basic drill training, they practice standing to attention, about-turns, marching, and halting, immersing themselves in the life of a new recruit.
Officer Candidate School: Do your students have the qualities of a leader? In this session, they’ll learn how to manage others, care for their comrades, and earn respect. Through thought-provoking battlefield scenarios, the children will test their decision-making skills as they collaborate to lead their platoon to success—or face the consequences of poor choices.
Stretcher Bearer: In this hands-on session, students learn the importance of first aid on the battlefield. After basic training, they face a trench warfare scenario. As an enemy assault unfolds, they’ll tend to injured friends, assessing casualties, applying first aid, and transporting them to safety using stretchers. Can they handle the pressure of saving lives in a war zone?
A Soldier's Life: Students will explore the everyday challenges faced by WW1 soldiers in the trenches. They’ll examine items from a soldier's kit bag, gaining insight into survival strategies and how soldiers maintained morale during some of the most difficult times in history.
